This two-day gathering in Fresno, CA is meant to nurture collaboration and encourage knowledge & resource sharing for all those involved in the community land trust ecosystem in California and beyond.

Strategic Budgeting 

Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 12-1:00PM PT

A crucial tool for navigating a rapidly changing environment is a flexible budget that provides visibility into risks, changes, and the “what ifs.” This training will focus on budgeting techniques and tools that can increase visibility and enable timely decision-making. In this 90-minute session, NFF consultants will guide participants through:   

  • Strategies for identifying risks and opportunities within existing budgets   
  • Budgeting strategies and formats that increase the utility of budgets for decision making   
  • Budgeting and planning tools to navigate unknowns   

This training will help participants improve the flexibility of their budgets and add visibility for risks, timing considerations, or potential triggers for decisions.

Real Estate 101: Preparing Your Organization to Secure Capital
Tuesday, May 13, 2025, 12-1PM PT

This workshop is the first in a  three-part Real Estate 101 series for CLT Network members. This workshop will prepare your organization to apply for and secure project capital, which might include preparing your organization’s financials, gathering collateral/annual repots, and assembling project financials and materials.  This workshop also cover the requirements for various types of capital – commercial loans, CDFI’s, bridge & hard money, foundation grants, and public subsidies – as well as how to pre-empt concerns about risk.

Real Estate 102: Developing Your Project Selection Criteria

This workshop is the second in a three-part Real Estate 101 series for CLT Network members. This workshop will help your organization craft a set of selection criteria for their projects while protecting important assets such as staff time, community support, and political clout.

Real Estate 103: Common Challenges with Public Subsidies for Acquisition & Rehab

This workshop is the final installment in a three-part Real Estate 101 series for CLT Network members. This workshop will provide an overview of common challenges with public subsidies, with an emphasis on construction & rehab funding. Common challenges might include general contractor requirements, developer requirements, architects certification, and more.
